SE1 Recipe Challenge Make Waves Card

Today's Seasonal Expression 1 recipe challenge comes from page 23. It is a card created using this month's featured paper collection Make Waves

My version starts with some leftover black striped paper cut to 3 1/4" x 4 3/4" attached to an A2 (4 1/4" x 5 1/2") card base.
A White Daisy piece cut to 2 1/2" x 3 1/4" stamped with this month's Stamp of the Month image.
Add a Black cardstock piece cut to 1 1/2" x 3 1/4" for the bottom and finish with a piece of Gold Shimmer trim.

Don't forget the inside and envelope also stamped in Black using images from this month's Stamp of the Month.

Enjoy

Design Space Friday Using a Pen for Easy Weeding

Do you have a problem seeing the lines on the Glitter heat transfer vinyl (HTV)? I know I do. I saw this cool trick of using a pen to draw the lines first and it worked for me so I thought I would share.

Remember to test your pen on a small sample first to be sure it does not smear.  I used the Cricut black fine tip pen NOT MARKER and it did smear if I did not let it sit for a few minutes to dry.

Also test wash the sample piece to be sure any ink still on the HTV does not bleed out onto the material

Seasonal Expression 1 Recipe Challenge

Today's Seasonal Expression 1 recipe comes from page 29

A cute layout full of circles to create scales for a mermaid inspired layout.

My version uses retired paper I held on to just in case I will be cruising again! And I will be this year, so out came the paper and the perfect first page for my travel book was created.

Instead of circles for scales, I used zip strips and leftover paper strips. Each strip is 1/2" x 12. The base page is a striped pattern piece with an 11" x 11" Honey (retired) pattern paper topped with a nautical themed Outdoor Denim (retired) pattern piece cute at 10 1/2" x 10 1/2". The  photo will be double matted with Cranberry cardstock and another multi-nautical pattern piece. The title is cut from an image from Design Space. I finished the layout with a piece of burlap ribbon across the front of the photo.

I would love to know if you will be trying this challenge, like my Facebook page or join my Facebook group and share your creation.

Enjoy

Featured Paper Collection Make Waves Blog Hop

Welcome to our Featured Paper Collection Blog Hop! We will be showcasing items from our Make Waves Paper Pack with various projects created by talented Close to my Heart consultants. If you are visiting from RaNae's Blog then you are on the right track, if not please start at the CTMH Blog Challenge and Support Group Blog Hop Guidelines beginning with our hostess Carol.

My project is a layout using the Make Waves cardmaking stamp set with cute little 'keep your fin up' sentiment and the awesome whale image. I love to use stamps on my layouts. It gives us so many possibilities. On this layout you find Make Waves Complements (our coordinating stickers and embellishments for our paper collections), Make Waves Sequins and Gems, and a Cricut cut title.

I used a pop of black in the shimmer trim and double matting of the photos along with the stamped images, which worked well with the multi-colors found in the Make Waves pattern paper and the soft Glacier cardstock pieces.

I would love for you to leave a comment. And if you do not have a Close To My Heart consultant, I would love to serve you! You can find my all the Make Waves fun HERE.

Now hop on over to Haley's blog to see what wonderful creation she has in store for us.

Two Recipes to Share

I totally spaced out this past week and missed several of my favorite posts. It worked out today that I could share both my Sunday 'recipe' and my Monday 'recipe' in the same post.

Our Seasonal Expression 1 Idea Book recipe comes from page 25. This recipe is created from the Make Waves paper collection and coordinating Complements.

My version uses a retired paper collection scraps and leftover coordinating Complements. The layout shares one of the last Thanksgiving where the whole family was able to gather. Such sweet memories!

And for the second recipe, this was January's crop recipe card, Korean Sloppy Joes. They were so good.

Sloppy Joes are a comfort food for me! Do you have a special comfort food?

You can find the original recipe HERE

Seasonal Expression Recipe Challenge

Here is another Seasonal Expression 1 recipe challenge. It is the layout in the upper left hand corner of page 23, which happens to be the beginning of the Make Waves collection, our featured paper collection for February.

I used the leftovers from the Make Waves Scrapbooking Workshop Your Way to create my version of this layout. I started with a piece of the Willow mermaid scales pattern paper and added a zip strip (those 1/2" x 12" pieces that contain the paper collection information on one side and a pattern on the other) to a White Daisy base page.

An 8" x 8 1/2" piece of Bashful cardstock with a 6" x 8 1/2" piece of the stripe pattern paper finished up with a 4 1/2" x 5" piece of the pansy and white polka dot pattern paper to create the focal matting for the photo. The title was cut on the Cricut. I embellished with several of the leftover Complements from my stash.

It is fun to play with the artwork shared in the Idea Book! Are you up for the challenge? Do you have your Seasonal Expression 1 Idea Book? What would be your first 'recipe idea' to try? Please share in the comments.

Recipe of the Week

Last year began the Crop Recipe cookbook where I create a recipe card for my croppers based on what is being served for lunch.

February's crop lunch was my first attempt at creating homemade tomato soup. Tomato soup is always my go to feel good meal. The recipe I found was for Crockpot Creamy Tomato Basil soup. It sounded good! And it was!

The recipe card is a 4"x 6" card. I print the recipe using Word and my printer and add a cute Cricut die cut image or two to complete the card. This keeps it simple so I can create several as a gift to my croppers.

My Design Space Friday Youtube video on February 16th will share how I sliced the tomato image from a group of vegetables.

Add homemade heart shaped croutons, bread cut with a small heart shape cookie cutter, tossed with olive oil, Italian seasoning, and a little salt and baked at 350 degrees for 15 minutes or until golden brown, and parmesan cheese for toppings. This lunch brought back many a childhood memory for me. What food brings back memories for you?

Design Space Friday Diagonal Side Box

This week on Design Space Friday you will learn how to create the top section of a diagonal sided box.

I saw one over on Paper Pixie's youtube channel and you know me and boxes, I had to have a Design Space version.

It will be the perfect gift for my crafty friends at my next crop.

Here is my Bashful and Kraft version for the Color My Heart Color Dare, join in the fun and create your Kraft and Bashful (gold optional) project.

Enjoy the video and next week we will complete the bottom of the box and maybe a different version of the top.

Sunny Thoughts February Stamp of the Month

It is February and still cold here in the South! Sunny Thoughts (S1802) is a great 'SUNSHINE' stamp set with beautiful sunny images.

Mingled within the beautiful sentiments are some cute little flowers, sprigs and sprays. A big circle sentiment ready for a 2 1/2" circle making it perfect for either the basic shape Thin Cuts or the Cricut.

My card is a sunburst using 2" x 4 3/4" strips cut in half on the diagonal. I used three different patterns and one solid from the Make Waves paper collection. You will need 16 (4 of each pattern and cardstock) total wedges to complete the sunburst.

The base of the starburst is a White Daisy piece of cardstock cut at 5 1/4" x 4". Next, I drew a line down the center vertically and about 2 inches down I drew a second line horizontally. This gives me the look of a cross with four sections, two small at the top and to longer at the bottom.

I lined up the first piece with the pointed end in the intersection of the two lines I drew and even with the left side of the vertical line. Align the next piece right against the first piece. You should get all four pieces within the first section. Move to the next section and repeat all the way around.

I finished by matting a White Daisy piece (3 3/4" x 5") on to a Black mat (4" x 5 1/4") and stamped the 'have a sunny day' sentiment with the floral spray at the bottom and a blossom at the top. And don't forget to add a little something to the envelope.

During February, you can purchase the Stamp of the Month for only $5 with a qualifying $50 order. It is also available for $17.95 without a qualifying order.

Oh Christmas Tree
